Cortland, NY, July 27, 2011: The Sweet Life, which is available to 76 percent of the US via participating public television stations nationwide, brings innovative recipes to viewers with a focus on lowering sugar intake without sacrificing taste, variety, and style.
“I want to show our viewers that eating healthy and lowering blood sugar actually opens creative menu opportunities they may have never considered,” said Xaver. “We explore every facet of cooking, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and delectable desserts. And we make it fun and relevant. It’s not about changing a recipe; it’s about changing our lives.”
The first season of The Sweet Life began airing nationally on public television stations in June, including signature markets in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, and more. It is shot entirely in the Cortland and Ithaca area, and features a crew with a significant number of TC3 students working as paid staff. The inclusion of students is an extension of the teaching passion that speaks to the core values of the show itself.
“The goal is educate and provide this valuable information regarding healthy eating habits, but also to do so with a level of elegance and creativity that helps to create self-sustaining, rich lifestyle,” said Xaver.
“And our students and connection to the community bring a dimension of practicality and authenticity to the show,” she said. “This is a crew of real people cooking real food, and real students utilizing professional skills they’ve acquired at the College. We’re showing people: ‘You can do this. This is a change you can make. And it’s not a chore. It’s a joy.”
